Flan - Custard
Caramel Ingredients:
1 cup of sugar
1/3 cup water
Flan Ingredients:
4 eggs
1 can (14 ounces) condensed milk
1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Note: Place a large baking pan with 1 inch of water in the oven and preheat the oven to
a 350 °F.
Caramel procedure: In a medium saucepan add sugar and water. Cook in high until
caramel turn light golden brown (about 6 to 9 minutes). Pour caramel into mold.
(I use two round glass baking dish or one 9 inch round glass baking dish) Turning the
mold make sure to evenly coat the bottom and sides of the mold with the caramel.
Set aside.
Flan procedure: In a large bowl, beat ingredients one at the time. Pour mixture in the
caramel mold. Put mold in the oven over the large baking pan with the water. Bake at
350 °F for 1
hour.
Let Flan cool down for about 1/2 hour. Put Flan in the refrigerator over night.
Use a knife to scrape edge carefully. Cover the mold with a plate. Turn Flan on the
plate. Enjoy!
Yield: 2 small flan or 1 big flan
